Victoria Doramus: Fire, Darkness, Then Dawn

If asked who marketing expert Victoria Doramus is, what might you think? If unsure, you might be inclined to conduct a web search. You’d eventually discover that she is a woman of many passions and career paths, depending on the point in her life. Having started out as a journalism & mass communication major at University of Colorado-Boulder, Victoria Doramus got to experience an immersive semester in 2012, studying art and art history (loves of hers) across various cultures and millennia. Being incredibly passionate about both art and mass communication, that period ended up being her catalyst into the digital media aspect of her career.

Having worked with and developed pieces for companies such as Stila Cosmetics, Trendera, Mindshare, and Creative Arts Agency while entertaining and maintaining a broad clientele, Victoria Doramus seemed to have it all going for her. She quickly advanced in her career, leading a revolution of media, communication, advertising, and branding collaboration. However, as most things go, there was a turbid and untold life unfolding below the surface. Adderall, cocaine, and alcohol addiction were beginning to consume her as she advanced further professionally.

Eventually, Doramus was admitted to rehab in 2011 for 45 days, at the age of 26. Upon her return, she had knowledge and tools to beat her addiction. She thought it was one and done, but little did she know addiction’s a lifelong battle. She tried moving states, changing friends, and everything in between, her addiction possessed her nonetheless. Eventually, 2016 brought another (longer, also unsuccessful) rehab stint and many burned bridges with those closest to her.

Victoria Doramus’ 2017 rehab stint, a 12-step boot-camp-style program that lasted a year, is what did it for her. She focused on spirituality, eliminating her victim mentality, and acknowleded her bad choices. After, she went to a halfway house.

Currently, Victoria Doramus is a light in her community, and gives back and uses her energy to help others(and animals), while working with several nonprofits in NYC. These include the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Women’s Prison Association, Best Friends Animal Society, and Room to Read.
